Manager’s New Hire Checklist (Part 2: Week 1)

This article will cover what a manager can do to set their new hire (that will report to them) up for success during the first week of their onboarding.

Note: This is the second article in a series. The first article is “Manager’s New Hire Checklist (Part 1: Preparation)" 

 

Your New Hire’s First Week 

(To be completed during your new hire’s first week) 

 

Congratulations on your new direct report! 

This checklist will ensure you set them up for success when they first arrive. 

 

Creating a Warm Welcome 

Add and introduce the new hire in Studio Teams channels: 

  • Your building Teams channels 
  • Studio Teams 
  • Studio Ambassadors or Studio Managers (Managers/AGMs/GMs) 
  • Squads, Squads, Squads 
  • Any Regional Channels 

Gather the following: 

  • A short bio, which can include: some info about the new employee (such as where they worked or what they studied previously), their areas of expertise, and any other fun facts they’d like to share with colleagues and Members 
  • A photo 

Then: 

  • Send this information to your RGM so they can send an email out to the Studio onsite teams, Studio corporate team, your regional team, and other stakeholders
  • Recommended: pair an upcoming Member event with an introduction to them 

Set up meetings with the following (if you don’t already meet with them): 

  • Yourself! (Recommended: take them to lunch if budget allows) 
  • PMO Team 
  • Regional Sales Manager 
  • Asset Manager (AGMs/GMs) 
  • Asset Management Director (AGMs/GMs) 
  • Studio Marketing Manager
  • Any other necessary one-off parties that you don’t meet with regularly (they can be added to the meetings that regularly occur)
